This year’s If You Learned Here eBook has an important role to play. It will introduce your school to other kids around the world and inspire questions for the next phase of our project. The global book is written by students, for students. Let the kids take the lead! There are resources in your Teacher Digital Resource Packet to help you gather student ideas. Here is a preview of the book template: The text box on pages 4-5 begins with the words "If you learned here, _________". Write that section as if you are speaking to a faraway friend. The format is inspired by If You Lived Here by Giles Laroche; please read that book for inspiration! The goal is to give readers around the world a sense of what it’s like to learn and live where you do. Here are some samples from previous years: You’ll find tutorials, a checklist, and the book template in your Teacher Digital Resource Packet. Please email your completed eBook pages as an ePub file to [email protected] by Friday, March 3, 2017. We’ll combine them and share the published eBook right away! We can’t wait to read what your students have to say. | Teacher To-Do List:

Year 3 of If You Learned Here is almost ready to launch! It's exciting to see the registrations coming in from around the globe. Today we sent confirmation emails to the schools that have joined us so far. We already have over 20 registrants from 10 countries taking part in our global project. We believe that global communication and understanding are more important than ever, and we can’t wait to get started on this collaborative adventure.
Registration will remain open through Friday, February 24. We’ve reached our quota for US schools but have plenty of space for friends from other countries. Please help spread the word! Our Teacher Launch is coming up on Thursday and Friday of this week. Here’s what you can expect:
We encourage participating teachers to get a copy of our mentor text, If You Lived Here. While not a project requirement, it’s a great way to introduce this project to your students. Email [email protected] with any questions! |
